We enthusiastically invite you to be part of AMSA2014 in Canberra at the National Convention Centre from 6 - 10 July. This is the 51st annual conference of the Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA), and the first time the conference has been held in our nation’s capital for several decades.

Australia has the third largest marine exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the world, which boasts a rich and unique marine biodiversity with strong and growing marine industries. The theme for AMSA2014 is Investigating our Marine Nation and the conference promises to showcase the latest findings and experiences from Australia’s marine research, management and policy capabilities.

AMSA is Australia’s peak professional marine science body, with approximately 1000 members from around the country from a range of disciplines and organisations. AMSA’s annual conferences have a proud record of attracting international and national delegates, including scientists and graduate students from universities, museums and government agencies, environmental consultants, managers, policy makers and marine educators.

AMSA celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2013, marking 50 successful years of collegiate communication, collaboration and networking about Australia’s unique and large marine realm. AMSA2014 promises to be another significant milestone, representing the third time the Association has met in the nation’s capital. This provides a unique opportunity for genuine interchange between Australia’s marine science fraternity and the nation’s policy and decision-makers. It also provides the opportunity for us all to think big at national and global scales regarding the oceans and the marine science that underpins the knowledge, technology, policies and management that may sustain them into the future.

We look forward to your participation in Investigating our Marine Nation at AMSAs 51st conference in Canberra in 2014.
